Mexican food in Berlin, reimagined – but what does that actually mean?
TACO & GRINGO is a Mexican restaurant in Berlin founded by Carlos Hernandez Toimil, whose family roots are in Oaxaca, Mexico. The concept combines traditional Mexican recipes and flavors with a modern approach to Mexican street food.
At the heart of the menu are tacos, birria, quesabirria and our Gringos, alongside recipes inspired by Carlos’ family traditions. Our Salsa Taquera Toimil, for example, is based on a family recipe whose roots go back to his great-grandmother.
The goal is simple: preserve the flavors and soul of Mexican cooking while creating something with its own identity in Berlin.
The Gringo was created at TACO & GRINGO as our own take on the classic Mexican quesadilla. Made with selected ingredients and cheeses, it combines Mexican roots with a recipe developed in Berlin.
The result is Mexican street food that stays connected to its origins while developing its own identity.
